Engineering Design of Cast Elastomeric Polyurethane Components
Urethane elastomers have become increasingly important in a variety of commercial applications. The proliferation of polyurethanes can be attributed to the excellent overall properties that distinguish them from other polymeric materials.
These properties include abrasion resistance, toughness as measured by tensile strength and elongation, chemical and solvent resistance, hardness, resilience, flexibility, tear resistance, and compression and shear strength. When aliphatic isocyanates are employed excellent weatherability is obtained.
